The microfilm contains the complete correspondence and writings of Washington Gladden from the original collection at the Ohio Historical Society, as well as a selection of Gladden material collected at other repositories. Gladden's correspondents include many prominent clergymen, editors and publishers, educators and politicians. Sermons, lectures and prayers constitute the largest and most important part of the collection, emphasizing theology and social issues. The remainder of the collection consists of writings and other materials by or about Gladden.
